You are invited to join artist and runner Thomas Cuthbertson in making wearable sculpture and running through Central Milton Keynes.
To enter the run, simply make a wearable sculpture and turn up to the starting line.
The proposed route will begin at the ‘Light Pyramid’ (Liliane Lijn, 2012) in Campbell Park at 1.30pm and finish at ‘3B Series, No.2’ (Bernard Schottlander, 1968-70) in Fred Roche Gardens, following the trail of public sculptures along Midsummer Boulevard, with a distance of around 1 mile/3km. The run will take place on Sunday 16th September, as part of the Groundwork Weekender (14th-16th September).
It is free to enter and you can run as an individual runner or as a group.
There will be 3 wearable sculpture-making workshops held at Milton Keynes Arts Centre, Great Linford, MK14 5DZ on:
• Tuesday 21st August, 6.30 - 8.30pm, free to all
• Tuesdays 28th August, 6.30 - 8.30pm, free to all
• Tuesday 4th September, 6.30 - 8.30pm, free to all
It would be ideal to attend at least 2 workshops for 4 hours contact time. A proposed structure of the workshops looks like this:
Hour 1: Drafting — Hour 2: Making
Hour 3: Testing — Hour 4: Finalising
All materials will be provided for making wearable sculpture at Milton Keynes Arts Centre, as well as pizza, beer and soft drinks throughout the evening workshops.
If you are interested in joining, please express your interest by email to: email@example.com (with the subject ‘Groundwork Sculpt and Run’) by Monday 20th August.
You are also more than welcome to make a wearable sculpture at home and turn up on the day. In any case, keep in touch by email to receive regular updates.
